Africa Internet Governance Forum 2022

This session will enhance participants' ability to carry out research, campaigns and execute advocacy strategies to advance digital rights, especially at the Universal Periodic Review mechanism. We will demonstrate how civil society organisations in Africa can utilise our free, innovative and interactive platform, the UPRoar Tools to improve understanding of the UPR and how to actively engage in digital rights advocacy at the UN. The tools will enhance participants understanding through;
-Country profiles that explore the level of engagement of each country in the UPR
- The Matchmaker, which assists in discovering new relationships and finding countries to lobby in your advocacy efforts.
- Recommendation Builder, which improves the precision of recommendations made on various themes and topics of importance
- Recommendation Directory, which will provide in depth information and insights on the UPR and digital rights among other human rights themes. This session will also highlight some of the ways civil society can improve their campaigns through crafting eye-catching, precise and engaging campaign and advocacy materials to be used on social media and other platforms for the UPR at the local level.
