Catherine Anite is a Human Rights advocate and freedom of expression expert. She is the
Global Lead for Small Media’s UPRoar program, that champions digital rights in over 30
countries across Africa, Central Asia and the Mena region. She is a member of the international
High-Level Panel of Legal Experts on Media Freedom whose remit is to provide advice and
recommendations to governments across the world to prevent and address abuses of media
freedom. Catherine is a Trustee at Media Defense (MLDI) and a Board Director at the
International Center for Not-For-Profit Law. She’s also the founder of the Freedom of
Expression Hub in Uganda.
